Ed Jocelyn

For newcomers to the New Long March, Ed's an Australian-born Englishman who has lived in China for the past eight years. He was half of the two-man team that retraced the Long March of the Red First Front Army in 2002-03, since when he has lived quietly in Beijing with his two cat companions, Xiao Mao'er and Li Gui.

Yang Xiao

Familiar to followers of New Long March 1, Yang Xiao (aka Gear Guy) is a field equipment expert who trained and outfitted our first expedition. He also joined Ed on the road while Andy was hospitalized. The two of them marched 500 kilometers in 22 days from Huili County on the border of Sichuan and Yunnan provinces to Luding, scene of the most famous battle of the Long March.
